Luke Shaw criticised by Jose Mourinho again despite return to action for

Juan Mata

Zlatan Ibrahimovic salvaged a point with an injury time penalty but Manchester United toiled to yet another Old Trafford draw against Everton.

Ander Herrera and substitute Paul Pogba may have struck the crossbar either side of halftime, but Everton caused problems and defended well after Phil Jagielka gave the visitors the lead in the 22nd minute from a corner.

The result leaves Jose Mourinho's side in fifth, four points adrift of the neighbours and three ahead of Arsenal, who will climb above them on goal difference if they beat West Ham this evening.

Pogba came on at half-time and headed against the bar from an Ashley Young free-kick, while Ibrahimovic had a 71st-minute header chalked off for a marginal offside.

It took a while, but gradually United managed to crank up the pressure.

Ibrahimovic also said he felt that United "deserved a little bit more".

The draw means that Man United's unbeaten record in the league now stretches to 20 games - though since embarking on that run they have moved up just one place n the table and are four points behind rivals Manchester City in fourth with just nine games remaining. Zlatan Ibrahimović put a header into the back of the net that was probably erroneously ruled out for offside. I came to do what I am able to do.

Shaw - who missed a lot of the 2016 campaign under Louis van Gaal due to injury - was omitted from the squad for the 0-0 draw with West Brom on Saturday despite United's injury crisis as, not for the first time this season, Mourinho criticised him.

Romelu Lukaku, quiet for most of the night, had a chance to score a late second for Everton on the break, but Eric Bailly made a fine challenge.

"We had to do it by the attitude point of view".

It's not good enough for a club with Champions League aspirations and in terms of points amassed this season, Mourinho is trailing the number accumulated by Louis van Gaal in his first season at Old Trafford.

"I feel myself more comfortable here than [with] the way Liverpool tried to press", Koeman said.

And Mourinho's demanding approach continued with the former Chelsea boss claiming Shaw only performed well against Everton because he was able to coach him from the touchline.

"Our defending was terrific, it was really painful how we don't win the game. Leicester have found some form but we need to get back to winning ways".
