'Frozen 2' coming to theaters in 2019

Josh Gad will be back as magical snowman Olaf

Disney announced today the release dates for Frozen 2, November 27th, 2019, and The Lion King live-action film will come July 19th, 2019.

Disney has confirmed a United States release date of November 27, 2019 for the sequel to 2013's smash hit animated musical.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly , producer Peter Del Vecho said of the highly anticipated sequel, "We're working hard on it. Like all movies, it will evolve". Moreover, Frozen 2 has been reported to build on the first movie, thereby allowing the audience to get a better grasp of the film's original plot, which some had criticized for being "all over the place".

HollywoodLifers, which Disney movie are you looking forward to the most? "Frozen" grossed $1.3 billion at the box office, becoming the highest-grossing animated film of all time.

While a sequel to Disney's mega-hit that took in almost $1.3 billion worldwide (and spawned a song you're probably singing to yourself right now) was a no-brainer, I'm kind of surprised it's taken this long for Frozen 2 to feel like it was actually going to happen. Because you can't have a Frozen movie without Olaf. Rumor has it that it may be Disney's first ever LGBT story arc. The same directors, Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, will be back as well.

Although the announcement was short on plot details, most of the original cast is expected to return for the sequel.

While news that a Frozen 2 will be made first broke in 2015, this is the first news Disney has shared about the upcoming film since then, although no plot details have been shared yet.
