Cincinnati officials release video of boy knocked out in bathroom

Gabriel Taye committed suicide in January after his classmates bullied him at school. WKRC

The attorneys say a school surveillance video shows the boy being thrown against a wall by another child in a bathroom entrance and knocked unconscious. Taye remained in the bathroom unconscious for several minutes until he was found by an assistant principal and school nurse.

On the evening after the incident at school, after Gabriel's mother was told he "fainted", he became nauseous and started vomiting, Branch said. "She also contacted Gabriel's mother and asked her to pick him up and take him to the hospital to be checked out", CPS said.

Taye's cause of death had originally been ruled suicide after he hanged himself at home on January 26.

The mother learned of the bullying and the surveillance video after her attorneys obtained a Cincinnati police investigative file over her son's death. "The video also has been shared with (Taye's) family's attorneys". "There was more bullying than his mom ever knew, was ever told, and as we learn things, it's been hard to share them with her because her response is, 'if I had only known, '" Branch said.

As the Post notes, a Cincinnati homicide detective has viewed the video and detailed that it shows a student in a red-and-gray coat punching another student wearing glasses in the stomach, sending the child to all fours on the ground.

However school spokeswoman Janet Walsh said previously Carson Elementary had zero reports of bullying in the August-December term.

Gabe allegedly never filled in his mother or doctors - who assumed the child was dealing with a stomach virus - on what actually occurred with him earlier that day.

Cincinnati Public Schools released the footage from Carson School on Friday.

The district's statement Friday followed release of the video showing Gabriel Taye being bullied and falling to the floor unconscious.

This season's he's played in 49 matches for Monaco in all competitions, scoring 14 goals and contributing 11 assists. And his uncle and former Paris Saint-Germain and Bolton star believes the young midfielder is still developing.

Cincinnati Police spokesman Lt. Steve Saunders declined to comment further on the police investigation now that Sammarco has reopened her case.

For almost 5 minutes after that, "many students step over, point, mock, nudge, kick, etc.", the 8-year-old boy, Karaguleff wrote.

Taye took his own life while at his home on January 26, but his mother didn't become aware of the bullying incident until much later, CBS said.

Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco, the Hamilton County, Ohio, coroner, said "We will review all the new info including the video when it's provided".

In a statement of her own, Taye's mother's legal counsel, defense attorney Jennifer Branch, expressed on behalf of her client that higher-ups at Carson Elementary are guilty of withholding information that could've saved the young boy's life.

Gabriel's death came amid a spike in youth suicide in Hamilton County, the Cincinnati Inquirer reported.

"Maybe this had been going on for years, and she had no idea, so she couldn't help him", Branch told Fox 19.

When Cornelia Reynolds asked her son what was wrong and what happened at school he said he didn't know. In 2016, a DE girl died after a fight in her high school restroom. Experts said bullying can be a risk factor for a child or adult who is having mental health issues and suicidal thoughts.
