Guardians 2 Hits $630 Million, Snatched Tops King Arthur

We don't feel like we've made 15 comic book movies, but a fantasy epic (Guardians of the Galaxy), a political thriller (Captain America: "The Winter Soldier) and a heist film (Ant-Man)". The sequel to the 2014 hit generated an estimated $145 million domestically, which will only continue to grow. This time, though, writer-director James Gunn has them fighting throughout.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" may still be a little ways off before it hits theatres, but that isn't stopping fans from discussing what may transpire once the film sees the light of day. What most people loved about the first film is still here. Every frame of the film is bursting with color, invention, and some of the weirdest ideas ever put into a Disney-produced blockbuster, but all of it pales to how deeply emotional it is. Soon they defeat the beast and Rocket steals some of the power source to sell on the black market then they leave but the planet finds out and goes after them. This time, the story centres around Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) finding his long-lost father Ego (Kurt Russell), as the team is also faced with overcoming a number of their inter-galactic enemies.

"Thank you so much, my Facebook friends, for supporting me over the past two and half years, and thank you for all the messages letting us know we've keyed into the frequency of your hearts", Gunn wrote on the social media website.

In a flashback segment, set in Missouri, we see a young Kurt Russell romping in the woods with a lovely woman. Quill is an orphan finding his place in the universe. For more on the film you can read Haleigh Foutch's review. Although one of the songs did become an important plot point, something the first film was unable to do with any song. That is perhaps where this film excels, and possibly even outdoes the first film.

It's popular now for hipsters or holier-than-thou film snobs to make fun of superhero movies, and Marvel movies in particular.

Here, Quill, Gamora, Draxx (Dave Bautista), Rocket and Groot are forced to work a bit harder, all while grooving to retro mix-tapes. It is not just Quill's daddy issues, either; Gamora and Karen Gillan's Nebula get in some nice sisterly bonding during the fisticuffs.

Credit must be given to some of the best visual effects yet to be seen in a Marvel film, or perhaps blockbuster cinema as a whole. What at first seemed like a ridiculous roster of kid-friendly characters, is revealed to be a group dominated by very human insecurities and traumas.

Just like the original, this film has plenty of levity.

Will Adam Warlock Be In Avengers: Infinity War or Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? This resulted in some slightly awkward moments that left the audience wondering whether or not they should laugh.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is now in theaters.
