Slaven Bilic hoping West Ham can follow up Tottenham win against Liverpool

Roberto Firmino

Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool): Two goals and an assist crowned one of his best performances since his return from injury.

The Reds require two wins to guarantee Champions League football next season but anything less leaves them open to being caught by Arsenal or Manchester United, both of whom are now outside the top four but with matches in hand.

Liverpool dropped two points as they were held 0-0 at home by Southampton last weekend, and can be grateful that their fate is still in their own hands thanks to Manchester United's defeat at Arsenal.

A slip-up today will give Arsenal the opportunity to move into the top four when they play Sunderland midweek.

The former has scored goals and tormented West Ham in the past and it's an experience Liverpool should look to pounce upon.

West Ham should have been level right before the halftime break, though.

Little did Liverpool fans know just what a treat they were in for on a scorching Sunday afternoon in England's capital.

Prior to Sturridge's strike, it was Reds who had gone closest to opening the scoring when Joel Matip's header struck the woodwork, though the visitors were fortunate that Andre Ayew did not restore parity on the cusp of half-time.

The Hammers goalkeeper also had to be alert to keep out James Milner's low drive before watching Coutinho's long-range effort drift just over the top of his crossbar.

Wtf! Why doesn't Origi pass Sturridge?

My mother didn't appreciate it when I told her I would be watching the game at my girlfriend's house on Mother's Day, but then, she doesn't appreciate the importance of Liverpool finishing in the top four this season.

When West Ham failed to clear, Emre Can freed Georginio Wijnaldum and Adrian again came to the home side's rescue at his near post.

Adrian foiled them on three occasions in quick succession. His cross finds Lallana, who has a shot blocked.

That was as good as it got for West Ham as Liverpool slowly seized control. Simon Mignolet was beaten, but the West Ham striker could not hit the target.

76' - GOAL! West Ham 0-4 Liverpool.

Philippe Coutinho and Liverpool eased past West Ham on Sunday.

Liverpool went straight back to business when the second half kicked off. Divock Origi was denied by a fine Adrian save in the 47th minute before Daniel Sturridge almost made it 2-0.
