New 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire booking opens at Rs 5000

The New DZire Tour get swept-back headlamps

Auto market leader Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) is seeking to revive growth in compact sedan segment in the country with the launch of its third generation Dzire next month. Nearly every aspect of the old Swift Dzire has been worked upon giving a new identity and a fresh look to Maruti's hot-selling auto. That shows the level of trust and popularity Dzire lineup has built in the country over past 8 years.

The 2017 Maruti Dzire could have had a longer version with a bigger boot for the export markets, provided if there was enough demand for the vehicle. The revamped rear bumper now features a set of reflectors.

As far as dimensions go, the new Dzire is 3995mm long, 1515mm tall and 1735mm wide.

Last full model change of the Dzire happened in February 2012.

The 2017 Maruti Dzire subcompact sedan remains a sub 4-metre offering, but doesn't look odd anymore. This has led to the rear shoulder room being increased by 30mm and by 20mm at the front. The two-tone theme has been retained, albeit with a more upmarket look.

There's a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system which doubles up as a navigator when connected via Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink. Addition of rear AC vents is an inviting addition in the new Dzire. However, remember that the new Dzire has lost weight and gets a better chassis frame too, and that means power response should be slightly better.

According to sources, the next-gen Dzire will come with platform and design upgrades though the engine options - K series 1197cc petrol and DDiS 1248 cc diesel - are expected to remain the same. Moreover, the new model will also be much frugal than the outgoing version. Despite the decline, the model accounted for 50 percent of the total sales in the segment. The diesel AMT will continue like the current version. Both these engines are available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The automaker will be launching the third-gen Dzire in India next month, which will be sold to private vehicle buyers. Commenting on the upcoming model, MSI Executive Director R&D, C V Raman said the new Dzire has been developed on 5th generation Heartect platform, which helps in weight reduction and improves frame rigidity.
