Avril Lavigne reveals she's starting to work on new album

Paramore release new album, 'After Laughter'—listen

AVRIL Lavigne is dead and has been replaced by a lookalike called Melissa - according to the internet. The theory continues that after our favourite sk8er grrl tragically passed away in 2003 (RIP), her PR company brought her in as a full-time replacement to live out her life as Imposter Avril.

This theory of death has occurred several times in recent years.

Freaky rumours have spread that claim Avril Lavigne has been replaced by a woman called Melissa.

Now back in 2015, the person behind this conspiracy claimed it was an experiment to prove that you can make the internets believe anything, but it looks like people are still going ham on this.

Avril Lavigne apparently didn't want to be in the spotlight, so she is said to have hired a woman names Melissa Vandella to impersonate Avril out in the public.

It's back again! Conspiracy theories regarding death and resurrection of celebrities are far too common.

"I'm really happy to announce that I am now working on new music and I will be releasing a new album in 2017", she wrote in an Instagram post.

A blogger went said: "Launched in 2004, it is completely different to the first CD!" Shortly before recording her second record, though, Lavigne's grandfather, with whom she was particularly close, died, leading to a troubled recording session during which Lavigne reportedly cried between takes and even attempted to commit suicide.

Since then, though, more and more people have found evidence for the theory, attaining a sort of crowd-sourced legitimacy. Avril Lavigne is active on Twitter and the internet crowd helped themselves with this opportunity.

Yesterday, the blonde star posted a sweet snap of her with her mom for Mother's Day. Another example is when Avril tweeted to promote a healthy snack, to which a jokester replied with "Avril Lavigne would never promote a slim secret bar". Let us know on social media.

So many questions. Is this just insane Brazilian Avril fans being a bit too passionate about their punk princess?

"The internet has been the flawless medium for the distribution of false information: very quickly a stupid - but often highly entertaining - story can be effortlessly distributed far and wide".
