Biden throws major shade at Hillary Clinton in speech

As he sat out that race, Hillary Clinton charged ahead as the Democrat front runner, something Biden has voiced his discontent with. "Probably no", Biden told hedge fund managers at the annual SALT conference in Las Vegas.

Because 2016 is the campaign that just won't die, Joe Biden decided Thursday was the night to share his feelings about Hillary Clinton's candidacy.

Biden announced in October 2015 that he was not going to run for president in the last election season, but he has been quietly voicing his regret since then over not running against Clinton.

Biden, who would be almost 78 years old next election, emphasized that right now his focus is on his family being "put back together" following the 2015 death of his son Beau to brain cancer. "I thought I was the correct candidate". According to CNN, Biden was asked when it was that he realized Clinton was the correct candidate for the Oval Office in 2016. That makes the arguments personal, and hard to work together on, he said.

Biden didn't take on President Trump directly, though he did seem to allude to the recent turbulence in the administration.

"I don't think she ever really figured it out", he had told the Los Angeles Times previous year. You can make a pretty objective case that Clinton wasn't a great candidate, given she lost an election she was expected to win to an opponent who became the most unpopular president-elect in modern history.

Biden was applauded when he said Barack Obama had served eight years "without a single scandal", and branded the former president "absolutely totally competent".

"Mr. Biden led the White House Cancer Moonshot to enhance cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care and is now launching his own Biden Cancer Initiative", said Gold.

"I think I could have won", Biden said in March speech at Colgate University. "Let's wake up!" Biden said. "I had a lot of data and I was fairly confident that if I were the Democratic Party's nominee, I had a better than even chance of being president".
