'House of Cards' First Lady backs Michelle Obama as president

Michelle Obama could galvanise liberals during the Donald Trump years

Wright, who plays Spacey's character's wife Claire Underwood on House of Cards, talked about her move in an interview with Garbage singer Shirley Manson, posted Thursday in Net-A-Porter's digital fashion magazine The EDIT, which features her on its latest cover. She flat out told Variety that numerous near-daily scandals that are coming out of the real White House these days could be plot points on her show. Season 5 of the hit show will be available to stream on Netflix from May 30th. "But I knew I had missed out", she said.

"Everyone is talking around the (water) cooler saying, 'We have four more years of this!"

Wright, a prominent activist, said a leader like Michelle Obama could galvanise liberals to get through the Trump years.

"Trump has stolen all of our ideas for season six, it's like I don't know what we're going to do", she joked to Variety. She'd be a great female candidate. She also discussed how the term "feminism" has somehow become a "derogatory or diva-like word".

"I think it's just a matter of time and breaking an old school of thought, opening up perspective", she said. And let's just say, these two are never afraid to play dirty, even when it pits the two of them against each other.

Wright wouldn't speculate on how many more seasons there may be before the show ends its run, but she confessed that she and the fellow show producers, including Spacey, have discussed how to wrap up the intricate storylines, when the time comes. But on the Cannes red carpet this week, Robin Wright was offering a style masterclass of a very different- but equally empowering- kind. When she did, she was told by the man overseeing her appointment, "No, I like the other [actress'] ones, I don't like'".

House of Cards star Robin Wright has spoken out about the Hollywood gender pay gap, recounting how she demanded equal pay to that of co-star Kevin Spacey on the politically-charged Netflix show but later discovered that was to no avail.
