Apple App Store update moves tipping to in-app purchase territory

The setup will see Apple take a 30% slice of the tip leaving the developers with 70%.

The app, which was shoddily slapped together with poor English syntax and questionable security-compromising prompts, tells the user that their internet is "not safe" to use. Meanwhile, Apple threatened to remove popular messaging app WeChat and other social platforms from the App Store if developers did not pay the fees or remove tips from their apps.

Last month, Apple demanded that Chinese app makers disable the tipping function.

House Intel Committee requests Comey tapes from the White House
Comey also said Trump and his administration tried to "defame" him by spreading "lies, plain and simple", about his firing. Trump added that he would "100 percent" testify under oath and answer questions from special counsel Robert Mueller.

Tipping has not yet caught on in the United States, but it has proven to be a lucrative venture in China for content creators.

Apple will impose limits on how many times apps may present a pop-up to ask you to review them on the App Store, 9to5Mac reported. Instead, there'll be two key restrictions that should reduce headaches for everyone: First, apps will be required to use a new Apple-made review prompt, which allows users to leave a rating without exiting an app. Apple has now dropped this feature though so developers will be less inclined to push notifications to your phone asking for reviews. As long as they are okay with Apple taking 30%.

This is great news for developers who had previously found Apple cracking down on tipping, but it's also good news for Apple's finances. But tipping, in the past, was unregulated and more loosely defined. In turn, creators will step up their game to make higher-quality content, making this a winning situation for all parties involved.
