Gas Prices Continue to Drop Across Florida

Prices in Houston on Sunday were nearly 3 cents per gallon lower than the same day previous year and nearly 9 cents lower than one month ago. It's the second week in a row that Benton Harbor had the lowest average. If the price dips below that, it would the lowest average since December. Some of the highest gas prices in North Dakota were found in the Stanley, N.D., area-$2.79 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.

Gas prices are down again in Rhode Island, dropping by one penny since last week. The national average has decreased 7.1 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 5.8 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago.

Nationally, Florida had the fifth-largest weekly decline in prices.

The cost to fill up in the Palmetto State is now below $2 a gallon for the first time since a brief appearance at that mark in March and remains lowest in the nation.

Daily local news headlines from across Gwinnett County.

In addition, DeHaan says the increased demand for gasoline during the busy travel season will also cause gas prices to increase. Prices across North Dakota were a few cents cheaper than a month ago.

Though global oil price benchmark rose to $56 a barrel earlier in April, it has cooled off in May and June.

North Dakota broke several longtime record lows last year, and June appears to be the first time a longstanding record was broken this year.

Fort Collins- $2.23/g, down 3.3 cents per gallon from last week's $2.27/g.

The only potential fly in the ointment of lower prices are the two potential storms that meteorologists are watching in the Atlantic Basin, either of which have the potential to push fuel prices higher this week, Jenkins noted. The lowest price this year was $2.26 in February. Oil and gas prices would rise if either of these develop into a major storm, move into the Gulf of Mexico, and threaten supply coming from refineries along the gulf coast. Motor club AAA puts the price at the same level.

In International Falls, regular gas averaged $2.29 per gallon, according to the site. The highest was about $2.36 in the Ann Arbor area.
