New eclipse Forever stamp will magically transform into the moon

The Great American Eclipse is coming to your local post office.

Launched on the summer solstice, of course, the pane of 16 Total Solar Eclipse Forever stamps employs a bit of sorcery by means of thermochromic ink - a first for a US stamp.

The cost is the same as any Forever stamp - $.49-cents a stamp.

The solar eclipse will occur August 21 across the United States, cutting a swath from OR to SC. Weather permitting, anyone in North America can see August's partial eclipse, including those in D.C., according to NASA. The image reverts back to the eclipse once it cools. It was taken in Libya in 2006.

The panelists will provide important safety and travel information about the eclipse, as well as discuss scientific studies that will take place during the rare celestial event. It was shot by retired NASA astrophysicist Fred Espenak, one of the world's leading authorities on total solar eclipses; he has had the incredible good fortune to have seen 27 of them so far.

German minister sees hope of 'soft' Brexit, with conditions
Officials on both sides have until March 2019 to work out a deal, after which Britain will official exit the EU. Back then, Prime Minister Theresa May was still talking as though Britain held all the cards.

A total solar eclipse provides us with the only chance to see the Sun's corona - its extended outer atmosphere - without specialized instruments. The 70-mile wide swath of darkness will sweep the country from OR to SC, a trail 2,500 miles long, passing through some 14 states. NASA scientists will be available to media at 3 p.m. CDT Wednesday, June 21, at the National Space Science and Technology Center (NSSTC) in Huntsville, Alabama.

The stamp is the first ever to feature thermochromic ink, which changes color when heated.

By the way, for best results of the special ink images, keep the stamp out of direct sunlight. To help ensure longevity, the Postal Service will be offering a special envelope to hold and protect the stamp pane for a nominal fee.

A pane of 16 Eclipse Forever stamps are now on sale, with a value equal to the current First-Class Mail 1-ounce price.
