Ed Sheeran on Game of Thrones Has Caused a Twitter Storm

Game of Thrones

Next week on #GameOfThrones, "A long lost direwolf eats Ed Sheeran's face". and I'm OK with that. In the cameo, he sings a song, then mostly sits and smiles while the real actors do the acting.

It seems Lannister soldier Ed Sheeran and the rest of the soldiers did not meet the wrath of Arya Stark.

Ed posted a picture of his character Brendan on Instagram last night and wrote: "This year continues to be equally surreal and fantastic".

Game Of Thrones Season 7 aired Monday via HBO and kicked off with an episode featuring Ed Sheeran. "The Ed Sheeran scene was actually an interesting moment/departure that was overshadowed by putting Ed Sheeran in it", New York Times television critic James Poniewozik wrote on Twitter.

Despite his short lines, some viewers took to Twitter to share their anger at seeing the British sensation in their beloved Game of Thrones.

Before he deleted his account, Sheeran had already soured on the idea of Twitter and social media a couple of times. I can't read it.

"Best surprise ever!" one follower commented.

Below, Sheeran plays "Teddy", a a singer who the character Marilyn Chambers (played by Emily Symons) knew in his childhood. But even before Westeros happened, many dedicated Lady Gaga fans pushed him off the website for a hot second after assuming he had spoken poorly about her in an interview.

He told Britain's Sun newspaper earlier this month that it was "nothing but people saying mean things" and that he had stopped using the platform regularly.

But BuzzFeed's naming and shaming of Ed and his bad chat may has resulted in much more than the news outlet could have predicted: Ed didn't just delete those tweets, he deleted his whole Twitter account!
