Trump Starts Twitter Feud With Sen. Blumenthal

Donald Trump attacks 'phony' Democrat Senator Richard Blumenthal over Russian collusion claims

Now he judges collusion?'

At a press conference Monday, Blumenthal said the investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller is on a "collision course" with the president, and that Mueller needs autonomy.

Another tweet by the senator said: "Russian financial payouts straight out of their playbook sabotaging democracies".

Trump's tweets came immediately after the senator's cable news interview, in which he accused the administration of "politicizing" the Department of Justice and argued that the investigation of possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation "must be pursued". Blumenthal said in a speech that he had "served in Vietnam" - though he really served in the Marine reserves at that time stationed in Washington D.C. and CT. At the time, Blumenthal told the newspaper that he had "misspoken" about his service.

The two-term CT senator and former state attorney general credited the media for its reporting on the Trump administration.

Trump added that "never in US history has anyone lied or defrauded voters" like Blumenthal, who he accused of touting his Vietnam War stories before begging "for forgiveness like a child".

"The Reserves were not being activated for Vietnam and were seen as a shelter for young privileged men", David Curry, a professor at the University of Missouri at St. Louis, told the Times in 2010. When caught, he cried like a baby and begged for forgiveness and now he is judge & jury.

But according to The New York Times, Blumenthal, 71, got five military deferments that let him avoid deployment. Going to NY next week for more meetings.

Without a "free press" the American people would not have known about the Trump campaign and transition team's meetings with Russian officials like former Ambassador to the US Sergei Kislyak, he added. Trump wrote across three tweets. Look at rallies in Penn, Iowa, Ohio.

In February, after Blumenthal pledged to block Trump's Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch, Trump criticized CNN anchor Chris Cuomo for not asking Blumenthal about his Vietnam record.

"The president, meanwhile, also railed against the "#fake news on CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, NYTIMES & WAPO".
