Sanchez to miss start of season

The Chile worldwide has been ruled out of Friday's Premier League opener against Leicester and next weekend's trip to Stoke - a blow for Arsenal as they look to avoid last year's slow start to the campaign.

Sanchez sustained the injury during a training session ahead of the Community Shield on Sunday and Wenger admits he is unsure how long the 28-year-old will be out of action, although he believes Sanchez is likely to miss the club's first away game of the campaign against Stoke on August 19.

Arsene Wenger doesn't expect PSG to be in touch with a bid for Alexis Sanchez. He has an abdominal strain and could be out for one or two weeks.

"I like the player because I have good friends in A Coruña", he said.

And Wenger is seemingly willing to lose him for nothing, thus turning his back on a potential fee of around £50million this summer.

"When a player goes into the final year of their contract we will try to extend the contract because there is no reason we shouldn't do it, but we are not there yet".

Jay Cutler has a surprisingly strong record against the Kansas City Chiefs
You might remember the game since the Chiefs were dominating, up 17-3 at halftime at home. Gase was not ready to reveal that Tanehill is going to have season-ending knee surgery.

When asked if the club had any others for the Chilean, Wenger replied "I can not tell you that. I can take a gamble on one, maybe maximum two", Wenger said. "But we have all the other players prepared in pre-season and they are all ready".

Wenger says Sanchez suffered the strain in training on Sunday before the Community Shield win against Chelsea and underwent a scan on Monday.

Wenger said Sanchez would be missed but admitted he would not have started the game against Leicester even if he was deemed fit to play. "I think if you read the French papers, they are on (Kylian) Mbappe's case to finish their transfer market". I remember watching him at Bournemouth last season and he looked angry.

"No", he replied when asked whether any players are closer to departing the club.

Players like Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Per Mertesacker are also uncertain for the Leicester clash.
