Spurs' Wembley jinx has Pochettino anxious

Tottenham have yet to recruit any players this summer but Pochettino reassured fans there will be new arrivals.

With Rose now injured, the Tottenham number 33 has a good chance to start the season well and build confidence, which would force his rival to kick his heels on the bench even when he is fit. But the time is clearly coming where Spurs will be forced to break their strict wage structure or risk their star players asking to leave.

"I mean signings like that are what we need - that's just my opinion". Five days after they ended the Premier League campaign with a 7-1 victory against Hull, Mauricio Pochettino and his players travelled to Hong Kong for an exhibition match against Kitchee.

"Whether it works or not we will see".

Otherwise it should be a familiar side with Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli looking to carry over their excellent form from last season as they support Golden Boot victor Harry Kane in attack. They claim that the North London club are closing in on the capture of Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez.

While most players are typically linked with United, whether they are actually looking to move clubs or not, a move for Rose would not be within United's best interests.

They do have sufficient options at left-back to fill any holes as well with Mateo Darmian and Daley Blind who are both capable of playing the role if needed be.

"It's not that we decide on our own, it's also about other clubs".

Yet the former Southampton coach might not be so sanguine if the window closes without fresh faces finally arriving in north London.

Last August, they paid Newcastle £30m for midfielder Moussa Sissoko in the final few hours of the window, having signed £9m winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and loan goalkeeper Pau Lopez earlier in the day. The deal shows the influence that the richest club have over the rest of the league.

But the biggest reason why Manchester United should not be targeting Danny Rose is that right now, they still have Luke Shaw. Pochettino has helped to bring the relative success that has changed this situation at the club, for now.

Mauricio Pochettino has told talkSPORT Tottenham are facing a challenge "similar to winning a title" in making Wembley their home this season.

He described the £750m redevelopment of White Hart Lane as "a challenge" but said: "I can honestly say it is not impacting our transfer activity because we are yet to find a player who we want to buy but cannot afford".
