The massive Chinook helicopters have two engines, two sets of rotors and a loading ramp in the back.

The Arkansas National Guard over the next few days will deploy an additional 1,500 soldiers and airmen to south Texas to aid hurricane relief efforts.

The Oklahoma National Guard is increasing its support of relief efforts in Texas following Hurricane Harvey.

The Nebraska National Guard was deployed to Texas nearly a week ago and has since been rescuing survivors, hauling food, water and even 500 pounds of blood to a local hospital.

On Sunday morning's supply mission, they delivered 8,200 pounds of food and water to Liberty County and Chambers County.

The guard sent more troops to Texas on Saturday. They will stay as long as needed in order to protect the lives and property of the citizens affected by the storm, Dayton's office said. About 30 soldiers, both Army and Air Force, have already been deployed to Texas, so the new deployment is an "exponential" increase, he said.

The National Guard has no time to rest.

The Chinooks have a hoist that can be used for rescue missions if necessary, but "our job is cargo", Nebraska Army National Guard Chief Warrant Officer Dallas Bundy said.
