Temple Student Found Brutally Murdered After Leaving Bar With Suspect

Search for missing Temple University student intensifies

This weekend's charges were the most violent ascribed to Hupperterz but not his first in Northeast Pennsylvania. Hupperterz claims he was too drunk to recall who was with him when he left the bar. It is believed that Jenna was killed in one location and her dead body transported to another location.

"We still don't even know the cause of death", Philadelphia police commissioner Richard Ross said. "We still have a lot of work to do, to include trying to figure out who else may have been involved, if there's anyone else at all".

A roommate reported to police that it looked like someone had tried to cover up blood stains in parts of the home. She was last seen around 2 a.m. Thursday in the area of Pub Webb, an off-campus bar and restaurant at 1527 Cecil B. Moore Ave.

Any information should be reported to Temple Police at 215-204-1234 or Confidential Tip Line at 215-204-6493.

Ed Burleigh has since paid tribute to his daughter on Facebook.

Police searched Hupperterz's mother's home in Jenkintown Saturday, and later found Burleigh's body at Hupperterz's grandmother's home in Wayne County.

Jenna's father: 'Our Beautiful Angel Jenna is now in Heaven'. At the same time, state police went to the home of Hupperterz's grandmother in a small Wayne County borough in northern Pennsylvania and took him into custody.

He was charged with murder, abuse of corpse, tampering with and fabricating evidence and other related charges in the death of Burleigh, a college junior from Harleysville who had transferred from Montgomery County Community College. He will have his preliminary hearing on September 20th.

Scranton police filed public drunkenness and similar misconduct charges against Hupperterz in September 2012, court documents show; the case is still listed as active. The motives of the murder are not clear yet. Temple Police is collaborating with Lower Salford and Philadelphia police to review cameras and investigate, said Charlie Leone, the executive director of Campus Safety Services.

"She literally started classes on Monday", Betzner said.

"Our deepest sympathies go out to Jenna's family and her classmates, both here at Temple and at Montgomery County Community College", Englert said in a statement.
