Just how far at odds DeVos's views about public education are with the average American parent's views became apparent in a new survey released during her bus tour. She briefly thanked her parents and the school for their support while she was earning her degree.

"Important to me is that individual students can find a school that works for them", DeVos told KC Academy students.

DeVos supports Charter Schools, and Nebraska public school teachers wanted to be heard. As a state based media outlet reports, DeVos's tour chose the school because of its "role in the landmark Supreme Court case" that led to raising the standard schools must meet to educate students with disabilities.

While no changes have yet been made, DeVos has made her intentions clear and further action will surely be met with controversy. "That's what we hope for is that parents and students will have to opportunity to make the right choice and get the right fit and have the information available so that they can make those choices".

The zoo school is a chance for Lincoln Public School students who love science and math to focus their studies, doing research and getting daily hands-on training.

"I think that what has happened historically is that we've set up this competition when we talk about school choice", said Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson after DeVos' visit. She's visiting schools across the nation that are coming up with new ways to teach and inspire children.

DeVos plans to stick around at Eastern Hancock for a hog roast as well as their football game against Knightstown.

Twenty-nine USA senators sent an open letter to Betsy DeVos on Thursday to urge the education secretary to maintain current Title IX guidelines on gender equality in education.

She might not like numerous views presented, as they run counter to much of what she, the Trump administration and conservatives have supported.

Given the results of the survey, there's little surprise members of Congress are not exactly rallying around the DeVos agenda for public education.
