Google's UPI-based Tez payments app rolls out in India

Google to launch 'Tez' mobile wallet in India

UPI is supported by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and regulated by the Reserve Bank of India.

Tez works with the customers' existing bank account, which means users' money is safe with their bank and they will continue to earn interest. Users just have to link their bank account to Tez and it's done.

For security, the app uses the "Tez Shield" which Google says "works 24/7 to help detect fraud, prevent hacking, and verify your identity".

Coming back the Tez application, Google has added support for various Indian regional languages such as English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, and Kannada. There is also has a separate business portal for sellers to register themselves and accept payments through Tez itself.

Did you find Tez Payments app interesting? Post this limit, there will be additional requirements, along with bank fee.

Note - If you have a smartphone with unlocked bootloader or a custom ROM, the app might not work and will show that the software the phone is running on is not secure. You can also cancel requests. Also, the number of tech-focused people is pretty massive here where most of the people prefer to go for the mobile payment service for any kind of purchase, small or big. The new mobile application enables you to send and receive money from friends by linking up your bank accounts to your mobile. It is available for both iOS and Android operating systems.

Getting Tez Scratch Cards (TM) in the app makes you eligible to win up to Rs. 1000 with each eligible transaction. It's a bit late to the game considering how popular apps like Paytm already are, but the search giant does have a considerable base in the country using its other services. The bank account also needs to support the UPI platform. Plus, weekly transactions enroll the user in Tez's Lucky Sundays contest where one could win Rs 1 lakh every week. You don't have to open another account or reload e-wallets because most of the major banks in India are supported such as the State Bank of India, ICICI, HDFC Bank, and Axis. To authorize the payment, you will need to enter your UPI PIN.

"Tez" allows the users to connect their bank accounts with the application in few simple steps.
