President Warns of Iran's Response to Violation of JCPOA

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

It also relieves us of all the responsibility of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani left Sunday for the U.N. General Assembly in NY, where he is expected to speak with world leaders on the 2015 nuclear agreement which eased global sanctions on Iran in exchange for curbing its nuclear program.

Nauert added that the move "should not be seen as an indication of President Trump or his administration's position on the [nuclear deal], nor is the waiver giving the Iranian regime a pass on its broad range of malign behavior".

"They (the USA administration) have shown wickedness and malicious behavior with regard to the JCPOA (nuclear deal)", said Khamenei.

The United States agreed this week to continue for now to exempt Iran from nuclear-related sanctions but slapped new measures on targets accused of cyber attacks or destabilizing the region.

Some are campaigning for Trump to tear up the deal immediately, regardless of the consequences for the U.S. But the more sophisticated opponents of the deal offer an approach that is far more insidious - they want Trump to unravel the deal by demanding the agreement be re-opened and renegotiated to deliver a "better deal".

In other words, Tehran warned the U.S. that Iran's patience is not limitless and if the United States decides to violate all political obligations undertaken by the previous administration, Iran reserves the right to react in any acceptable way.

Pep Guardiola pleased with Manchester City goalfest
Defender John Stones grabbed the headlines with two goals at De Kuip while Aguero and Jesus also got on the scoresheet. But the Argentine has always shown he has the stomach for the fight and that has been evident in recent weeks.

But the administration is still reviewing its policy toward Iran and the nuclear deal, and Trump has said he is inclined to say next month that Iran is not complying with its commitments.

President Rouhani addressed Iranians residing in the United States late on Sunday local time and said: "We need all Iranians everywhere in the world to build our Islamic Iran and all Iranians who love their country must have a role in the future of Iran".

Calling the US approach to the nuclear deal "totally oppressive hounding & cruel" in one tweet, Khamenei accused "corrupt, lying USA officials" of hypocrisy. Stories like this are made possible by readers like you. Rouhani said that Iran has been committed to its obligations and this has been confirmed repeatedly by IAEA, the United Nations nuclear watchdog.

But the administration stressed at the time that the decision is not indicative of US policy on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). We would not have a problem with that, ' IRNA quoted Rouhani as saying.

In May, Tillerson told reporters following the reelection of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani - a key architect of the 2015 nuclear deal - that he would be prepared to meet with his Iranian counterpart at the appropriate time.

JCPOA stands for the formal title of the accord, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

Donald Trump levelled sharp criticism at the agreement many a time during his election race and upon accepting the presidential office.
