10-man Tottenham defeat West Ham 3-2

Harry Kane scored twice as 10-man Tottenham held off a West Ham comeback Saturday to maintain its ideal away record with a 3-2 victory in the Premier League.

Javier Hernandez, however, pulled one back to galvanise the Hammers and Cheikhou Kouyate set up a tense finish after Spurs had seen Sergie Aurier sent off.

A brace from Harry Kane and a record-setting effort from Christian Eriksen had put the visitors in complete control at London Stadium.

Since the Premier League era began in 1992-93, this is the first time that Tottenham have opened a campaign among the elite with three successive victories.

Former Tottenham player now-turned football pundit, Jason Cundy wasn't impressed with West Ham's performance, particularly during the first 60 minutes. Alli's shot was saved by Joe Hart but the ball fell straight for Kane who tapped into an empty net.

Kane again hit the woodwork soon after, but the Hammers suddenly had life when Hernandez was allowed to roam the six-yard box unchecked and he headed home Jose Fonte's flick.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane scored twice as Tottenham survived a late fight back from West Ham to move into third place in the Premier League.

Twenty minutes from time and Tottenham were down to ten men, after defender Serge Aurier was shown a second yellow card for a late tackle on forward Andy Carroll.

In the 87th substitute Arthur Masuaku's inviting cross was met by Kouyate's powerful header at the back post, but Tottenham held on to claim three points.

West Ham are in the 17th position with four points after suffering the fourth defeat this season.
