Blast in London's Tower Hill Tube Station, several passengers injured

The incident occurred on Tower Hill station's District Line.

"Fire believed to have been caused by mobile phone charger overheating", said the tweet. After the blast took place the passengers ran in panic to save their lives.

Less than two weeks after a terror attack in London's underground metro injured scores of people, a small cellphone battery explosion on the capital's underground caused panic Tuesday afternoon.

A small fire was reported due to which smoke engulfed the carriage.

Police have evacuated Tower Hill station and warned people to "avoid the area".

Service is now suspended between Aldgate and Edgware Road on the Circle line, and between Aldgate East and Earl's Court on the District line.

Police said they were called to a "fire alert".

Transport for London said there was disruption on the circle and district lines while the matter is dealt with.

According to reports, one passenger was injured in this incident.
