OJ Simpson could be a released from prison as early as Monday

OJ Simpson to eat steak, get iPhone after expected release from prison next week

Things turned sour for OJ when he was arrested for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and friend Ron Goldman.

The former American football player was jailed after being convicted for kidnapping and armed robbery in a Las Vegas hotel, back in 2007.

O.J. was granted parole at a hearing back in July.

The 70-year old shot to stardom as one of the NFL's all-time greats, before turning his hand to acting.

Citing safety concerns, Nevada prisons spokeswoman Brooke Keast says Simpson could be kept at a corrections facility for several weeks if necessary. In July this year, he was granted parole and approved for release in October. He was ordered to serve a minimum of nine years before he was eligible for parole.

In a strongly worded letter, Attorney General Pam Bondi has asked that O.J. Simpson not be relocated to Florida once he is released on parole. The BBC reports that OJ will now face up to five years supervised parole. It is the main processing center for inmates from southern Nevada, where Simpson was convicted.

"'We needed to do this to ensure public safety and to avoid any possible incident, '" Keast added, speaking by telephone", per Ritter. According to ABC News, Goldman's father, Fred, and sister, Kim, plan on pursuing the judgment they were awarded and continuing to raise awareness for domestic violence, victim advocacy, and judicial reform.

Unlike previous instances, where controversy followed wherever he went, Simpson was released in the middle of the night to avoid media attention.

Simpson is expected to head to Florida within in the next few days to visit his children, Justin and Sydney.

The juice walked out through the front gatehouse, where a friend picked him up under the cover of darkness.

A lawyer representing Ron Goldman's family told Associated Press this amount had almost doubled with interest under Californian state law, and that the family would continue to seek payment from Simpson after his release.
