Kim Jong-nam murder: Accused women plead not guilty, say was tricked

Trial of 2 women in Jong-Nam’s murder begins tomorrow

On Monday they pleaded not guilty to murdering Kim.

During court proceedings of the high-profile murder trial in a Malaysian court on Monday, the women pleaded not guilty for allegedly administering a nerve agent VX on the deceased, Kim Jong Nam.

"Kim's cholinesterase level was 344 and that is low... meanwhile, the reading of the enzyme in the samples taken from Siti Aisyah and Doan (Thi Huong) was normal", she said in reply to the prosecutor this morning.

The Indonesian Siti Aisyah and the Vietnamese Thi Huong have communicated their decision through their interpreters before the High Court of Shah Alam on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, where Kim Jong-Nam had been attacked in the VX, a nerve agent, version highly deadly gas sarin considered a weapon of mass destruction.

The murder charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction. Kim Jong Un is known for his violent execution methods, which have included anti-aircraft guns.

Kim immediately sought help at a service counter, but while waiting at the airport clinic he fainted.

The pair have claimed from the start that they did not know they were taking part in the global assassination of dictator Kim Jong-un's estranged relative, and believed they were taking part in a TV prank show.

The defense lawyers had asked for the four North Koreans to be named in court but their request was turned down by the judge.

"Sir, walk slow. My eyes blur, I can't see", the police officer said Kim told him as they walked to a clinic in the airport.

Diplomatic relations between North Korea and Malaysia, once somewhat friendly, collapsed as a result of the murder.

"I saw there was some liquid on his face and his eyes were a little red", he said.

Nik who is the fourth prosecution witness in the trial said he then administered one ampule of atropine and adrenaline each to Jong-Nam in an effort to ensure that his heart was pumping more blood.

Government pathologist Mohamad Shah Mahmood, who prepared the report, told the court Tuesday that "the cause of death is acute VX nerve agent poisoning" after excluding other possible diseases or injuries.

Those three were later allowed to fly home in exchange for nine Malaysians allowed to leave Pyongyang.

The 29-year-old Vietnamese suspect, Huong, was caught on airport security surveillance cameras wearing a white sweatshirt emblazoned with the big black letters "LOL" - the acronym for "laughing out loud". Raised in a rice farm in northern Vietnam, her family said they had hardly heard from her since she left home a decade ago. Kim said he had been attacked by a woman from behind.
