Paddock Lollapalooza Chicago Booking Overlooked Concert, Report Says

Las Vegas Gunman May Have Eyed Lollapalooza as Target

Two months before carrying out the attack from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel, Paddock booked a pair of rooms across the street from Chicago's Grant Park, where the Lollapalooza music festival was held from August 3 to August 6, TMZ reported. It wasn't clear whether Paddock fired any of the illuminated bullets during the massacre.

More officers arrived, some clearing rooms and looking for anyone who had been injured, and breached the door to Paddock's suite at 11:20pm, 65 minutes after the shooting stopped.

Authorities are still trying to figure out a motive.

The No. 2 official in the Federal Bureau of Investigation said Wednesday he was surprised investigators had not uncovered more. Paddock had a cache of firearms in his room, at least one of which had a legally obtainable "bump stock" modification that allowed him to fire rounds much faster than a semiautomatic rifle. Paddock apparently used such devices during the bloodbath.

People in California hold candles and flashlights into the air during a memorial for the victims of the Las Vegas shooting.

Lollapalooza's lineup included Lorde, Muse, the Killers, Arcade Fire, Blink-182 and Chance the Rapper.

Colvin says the Australian authorities are "working very closely with our partners in the U.S".

A former executive casino host at the Atlantis Casino Resort and Spa in Reno, Nevada, where Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock frequently gambled, says Paddock had a "god complex" and expected quick service no matter how busy employees were.

According to sources, Paddock never showed up.

Two months before committing the largest mass murder of modern times, the man behind the Las Vegas shootings may have booked hotel rooms facing the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago.

In a statement, a spokesperson from The Blackstone said, "We can confirm that there was no guest under that name who stayed at our hotel in August during the Lollapalooza music festival".

It came as Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said he still believes that Paddock had some help. After finding materials for explosives and 1,600 rounds of ammunition in his auto, investigators are also looking into whether Paddock planned another attack.

Lombardo said he didn't know what Paddock intended with the explosives and wouldn't elaborate on getaway plans.
