U.S. bombers conduct drills off both coasts of Korean Peninsula

-South Korean wartime "decapitation strike" plans against the North Korean leadership. Defense officials refused to comment when reached by other media.

Reuters reported that the USA military said in a separate statement it conducted drills with Japanese fighters after the exercise with South Korea, making it the first time United States bombers have conducted training with fighters from both Japan and South Korea at night.

There is no evidence that the hacking attempts were successful, but FireEye assessed that the targeting of electric utilities could be related to increasing tensions between the USA and North Korea, potentially foreshadowing a disruptive cyberattack.

Trump, meeting with members of his national security team, discussed "a range of options to respond to any form of North Korean aggression or, if necessary, to prevent North Korea from threatening the United States and its allies with nuclear weapons", according to a statement from White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Trump, on Monday, on Twitter said that a quarter century of USA policy towards North Korea had been unsuccessful.

"Thus far, the suspected North Korean actions are consistent with a desire to demonstrate a deterrent capability rather than a prelude to an unprovoked first-strike in cyberspace; however, North Korea linked actors are bold, have launched multiple cyber attacks created to demonstrate national strength and resolve, and have little concern for potential discovery and attribution of their operations", FireEye researchers said in a blog.

Ri has previously called Trump "President Evil" and his comments are likely to fuel an escalating war of words between the U.S. President and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

The warplanes first conducted a simulated air-to-ground missile drill over the waters east of the Korean Peninsula and then flew over South Korea and conducted the same drill over the waters west of the peninsula, the South Korean military said. Kim is the third generation of his family to rule North Korea.

Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam will hold strategic talks with visiting U.S. Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan on October 18 in Seoul, according to Seoul's foreign ministry. He revealed that around 235 gigabytes of military documents had been stolen from the Defence Integrated Data Centre, and that 80% of them have yet to be identified.

"They likely remain committed to pursuing targets in the energy sector, especially in South Korea and among the USA and its allies, as a means of deterring potential war or sowing disorder during a time of armed conflict".

The information, that included wartime contingency plans drawn up by the United States and South Korea, was from the country's defence ministry, according to Rhee Cheol-hee, a South Korean lawmaker.
