NFL Week 6 features Patriots-Jets matchup for 1st place

Patriots, Jets, playing for AFC East lead

The New York Jets were on the wrong side of one of the more puzzling calls we've seen in years, and the Patriots were the beneficiaries.

The CBS broadcast was baffled by the ruling, as were the fans at MetLife Stadium.

The Jets forced a punt quickly, and the Jets drove down the field again but had to settle for a 28-yard field goal from Chandler Catanzaro to cut the Pats' lead to 24-17 with 3:40 left to play.

After the Jets jumped out to a 14-0 lead to start the game, they fell behind and were looking to mount a comeback.

His second touchdown went to Jeremy Kerley on a beautifully thrown pass over Malcolm Butler. Josh McCown was outplaying Tom Brady in their Grey (beard) Cup, Austin Seferian-Jenkins was out-Gronking Rob Gronkowski and Todd Bowles was outcoaching Bill Belichick.

After one half of football today, you'd be forgiven if you thought the opposite was true as the Jets now hold a 14-7 lead over the defending Super Bowl champs, holding Pats quarterback Tom Brady to under 100 yards passing while also picking him off once. They took over at their own 27 after a Patriots punt and a costly penalty on Jets cornerback Xavier Coleman on the punt return. Most of the anger didn't come from the fact that they ruled it a non-touchdown, but more so because they said Jenkins fumbled the ball.

On the ground, Dion Lewis rushed for 53 yards in seven carries while Mike Gillislee added 52 yards in 12 attempts. The win pushes New England to 4-2 on the season. If the Patriots aren't leading the National Football League in giving up big plays, they have to be close.

Skrine intercepted Brady with 3:13 left in the half, but the Jets could not convert it to points. Two plays later, Brady hit Gronkowski for a 2-yard touchdown to send the game to halftime tied at 14-14. Had it stood, it would've narrowed New England's lead to a field goal (had the extra point been converted).
