Journalist Mark Halperin is accused of sexually harassing five women: report

Longtime political journalist Mark Halperin is out at MSBNC following accusations that he sexually harassed five women while head of ABC News.

He rejoined NBC News and MSNBC in February after a stint hosting a television show for Bloomberg that was briefly broadcast on MSNBC as well. Multiple women allege that Halperin propositioned them, and others say that he pressed his genitals against them and kissed them against their will. Halperin admitted to CNN that his behavior at the time was inappropriate and that he apologizes.

"During this period, I did pursue relationships with women that I worked with, including some junior to me". Halperin has denied grabbing a woman's breasts and pressing his genitals against three of the women who spoke out.

Three of the woman allege that Halperin, who is now a senior political analyst for MSNBC and Bloomberg, pressed his erect penis against their bodies while he was clothed.

Another woman shared a similar account, saying she was seated in his office when he approached from behind and "pressed his body on mine, his penis, on my shoulder", she told CNN.

'Under the circumstances, I'm going to take a step back from my day-to-day work while I properly deal with this situation, ' he concluded.

The book, which will be co-written with John Heilemann, is about the 2016 presidential election. They also told CNN he never "promised anything in exchange for sex, or suggested that he would retaliate against anyone" should they report his behavior. The incidents are alleged to have taken place while Halperin worked for ABC News. However, Halperin made many decisions about political coverage at ABC News, and had a voice in some critical personnel decisions.

Halperin is the co-author of the book Game Change, which was turned a 2012 movie, which won Emmys for Outstanding Miniseries or Movie and Outstanding Lead Actress for Julianne Moore, who played Sarah Palin.
