Nokia 5 3GB RAM variant goes on sale in India at Rs. 13499

HMD Global-backed Nokia on Monday announced the launch of its mid-range Android-powered Nokia 5 smartphone in the Indian market with an upgraded RAM option. Earlier Nokia 5 2GB RAM variant was launched and now the 3GB RAM variant. Except for this upgrade, the remaining specifications are intact as the original model.

Nokia's 3GB RAM variant will be available on Flipkart starting tomorrow (7 November), the smartphone will also be available through offline retailers from 14 November. It runs on Android Nougat out of the box and will soon receive the latest Android 8.0 Oreo update. The display is protected by 2.5 D curved tempered glass manufactured by Corning Gorilla.

The Nokia 5 was launched alongside the Nokia 3 and Nokia 6 smartphones in India in June this year. At its heart, there operates a quad-core Snapdragon 430 64-bit processor paired with 3GB RAM and 16GB storage space that can be further expanded up to 128GB via the dedicated microSD card slot.

Other specifications of the Nokia 5 include a 5.2-inch HD display on the front, and it even has a fingerprint scanner placed below the display flanked by two hardware keys- back and recent apps. "Now we have added more memory so fans can get enhanced performance in the same precision engineered design", said Ajey Mehta, Vice President India, HMD Global in a press statement. "In terms of battery, it has a 13MP main camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, 1/3" sensor size and 1.12 µm pixel size, and an 8MP front-snapper with f/2.0 aperture and 1.12 µm pixel size.

The phone has 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and Global Positioning System. A 3.5mm headphone jack is also a part of the package, and so is a 3,000mAh non-removable battery.
