IPhone users suffer freakish autocorrect fault - but there is a fix

Beside Phrase, type "I", and beside Shortcut, type "i".

"We are aware of this autocorrect bug", an Apple spokesperson told The Register via email.

According to the website, iPhone users need to go to Settings, General, Keyboard and then Text Replacement on their device. This underlines further iOS 11.1 issues and problems, and the bug is apparent throughout iMessage, Twitter, Instagram, and other apps.

The fix involves editing the keyboard settings in iOS so that the right character, either an upper or lower case "i", is used.

Here is what you might have seen when typed the letter "i."

Senator Rand Paul is ASSAULTED in his Kentucky home
The Kentucky State Police reacted to Rand's habitation at 3:21 p.m., as indicated by an official statement from the organization. On his Facebook page, Boucher's previous posts have been politically charged, showing frustration with President Donald Trump.

Previously the problem was limited to only in 2016 iPhones and older models, but now iPad and iPhone 8/iPhone 8 Plus users are complaining various problems after the update.

Or you could learn to type correctly, because obviously everyone is just typing stuff in wrong.

Reddit user TheCravin reported the bug and said that Apple's predictive keyboard feature suggests a random character like 'A, ' '#,' or '!' followed by a '[?]' symbol.

The tech giant has not released an update to correct the issue, but they are offering a temporary workaround to ease the annoyance. Until then, Apple put up a support page for the problem where it directs users on how to fix it using Text Replacement.

IOS 11.1 update has come with unbelievable new emojis which include many trend-setting ideas like a woman with a headscarf, a fairy emoji, and a zombie. It's a fiddly "fix" that brings new variability to the ever useful Apple meme of You're [insert verb] it wrong.
