DeShone Kizer returns to Browns vs. Lions game

Cleveland Browns

Rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer gave Detroit's defense headaches all day, particularly over the middle.

The Cleveland Browns started strong, but the Detroit Lions finished better in their inter-conference matchup at Ford Field in Detroit Sunday afternoon. But Kizer's bad decision cost the Browns precious points and a chance to enter the half tied at 17 instead of down 17-10. Kizer completed 21 of 37 passes for 232 yards with a touchdown, an interception that came with 90 seconds to play on a fade to the end zone and a 73.3 rating.

Accustomed to what we are used to seeing, the "normal" Browns committed three penalties on the same set of downs.

Lions defensive back Nevin Lawson stripped the Browns ball carrier, broke a tackle and took it all the way back for a touchdown, making it 17-10 Lions in the second quarter.

Analyzing four key moments from the Browns' 38-24 loss to the Lions. He is, by far, the Lions' biggest receiver.

Kizer passed for 178 yards and a touchdown and carried seven times for 57 rushing yards and a score prior to the injury. And there even was a Kenny Britt sighting, as he was able to turn a short pass into a touchdown in the first quarter.

Cleveland actually held the lead after the first too which is nice to see, but that didn't last long.

Kizer missed two second-half possessions after suffering a rib injury on a third-quarter hit from cornerback Quandre Diggs.

The Browns had a second-and-10 when Kizer flared a pass to tight end Seth DeValve in the right flat for a nine-yard gain. Can't win if the defense can't get off the field when it matters most.

Many questioned the Lions' selection of Eric Ebron as a captain for this game, but he played well, catching 2-of-3 targets for 39 yards.
