Cavaliers earn 11-seed in 39th straight NCAA Tournament appearance

#12 Irish Tabbed To Host NCAA Second Round On Sunday

Virginia Tech and Virginia received at-large bids to the NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament Monday. Making their 10th NCAA Championship appearance in the last 11 seasons, the Cardinals (11-2-4) earned a first round bye and will host the victor of Thursday's California-San Francisco contest (played in Berkeley) in a second round match on Sunday at 5 p.m., ET at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium. It is the program's 30th all-time NCAA Tournament berth, and Clemson has a 52-26-6 record in the national tournament all-time.

For ticket information for Sunday's NCAA tournament match at Alumni Stadium, call the Murnane Family Ticket Office at (574) 631-7356, visit UND.com/buytickets, or stop by the ticket office window inside Purcell Pavilion.

This is the Cavaliers 39th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament, which is the longest active streak in the country. UNCW previously played in the NCAA Tournament in 2009 and 2014. The Irish are a combined 4-5-2 (.455) against fellow NCAA Championship competitors this season, including a 2-0-2 mark in matches played at Alumni Stadium.

Presbyterian, the Big South Conference champion, earned the automatic berth into the field after edging High Point in a penalty kick shootout in the title game on Sunday.

The 2017 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship Selection took place November 13 and it featured the Mid-American Conference champions, The University of Akron Men's Soccer team.

Louisville, which was seeded No. 1 overall in 2010 for the program's highest ever seed, enters this year's NCAA Championship after falling in penalty kicks to Virginia in an ACC Championship quarterfinal match on November 5 at Lynn Stadium.

The Akron Men's Soccer team gathers at the James A. Rhodes Arena for the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship Selection Show with students and faculty.

Under the guidance of head coach Ken Lolla, who is in his 12th season at the helm, the Cardinals have advanced to the quarterfinal round (elite eight) of the NCAA Championship four times in the last seven years, including last season. The Flames had previously downed Cleveland State 3-1 during the semifinal round on their way to claiming the fifth conference tournament championship victory in program history.

WMU (16-3-1) also earned a first-round bye with its No. 10 seed, and the Broncos will face the victor of Maryland and Albany Sunday at the WMU Soccer Complex.
