GAL GADOT Quitting WONDER WOMAN Sequel Unless RATNER Removed

But if Brett Ratner, who co-financed the first film, is going to have anything to do with the sequel whatsoever, it looks like we can all say goodbye to Gadot. But now, theoretically at least, Wonder Woman 2 could be in a bit of doubt.

Per Page Six, Gadot is refusing to return for Wonder Woman 2 unless Brett Ratner and his RatPac-Dune Entertainment production company are removed from the follow-up.

Last month, Gadot posted a message to her Instagram in support of all the women coming forward with their stories of sexual harassment and assault.

Ratner's production company Rat-Pac Dune had co-financed the first Wonder Woman movie in an agreement with Warner Bros. The release date for the sequel, originally slated for December 13, 2019, has been moved up six weeks to november 1 in order to avoid a head-to-head box-office battle with the forthcoming Star Wars: Episode IX.

The rumours surrounding Ratner have always been brewing, but recent accusations from six women, including actresses Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge, as well as Ellen Page's epic Facebook post about the director outing her and humiliating her on set, have brought his misconduct all out into the open.

The validity of this report is unclear. Gadot is now clearly one of the most valuable players within the DCEU, and any attempt to replace her as Diana would surely earn widespread derision from fans.

Buying Ratner out completely prior to the expiration of his contract would, ironically, end up giving more money to the alleged harasser.

So yeah, this is an interesting turn of events.

Since then, Warner Bros has reportedly severed ties with the director while Brett issued a statement announcing that he's "stepping away from all Warner Bros-related activities" to avoid "any possible negative impact to the studio until these personal issues are resolved". But that does pose something of a financing dilemma for the studio, and it'll be interesting to see what moves they make in the months to come.
