Burqa-clad militants kill nine in Pakistan

Nine killed 32 injured in Pakistan terrorist attack

Another three people died at Khyber Teaching Hospital and 17 wounded were there, director Nekdad Afridi said.

Police said at least three militants opened fire at security guards near the gates of the Agriculture Training Institute, injuring one person before making their way inside and targeting student accommodation.

At least two explosions have been heard from inside the campus., one was confirmed by SSP Khan while speaking to The Express Tribune.

Authorities said the gunmen had been killed and security forces had cleared the area after searching for remaining militants.

A heavy contingent of police and army has reached the site while the university road has been closed for traffic.

The Pakistani Taliban quickly claimed the attack at the college, and its spokesperson Mohammad Khorasani released a message from the terrorist organisation stating that they had targeted a safe house of the military Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency.

Pakistan media Geo news reported that three attackers, with their faces covered, entered the Directorate, located next to the University of Agriculture, and started firing.

Mehsud said six students, a security guard and two civilians were killed in the attack. The university hostel usually houses almost 400 students, but most had gone home for a long holiday weekend and only about 120 students remained.

Taliban militants stormed a training institute in Pakistan's northwestern city of Peshawar Friday, as the country marked the birthday of the Prophet Mohammed.

An eyewitness said, "We were sleeping when we heard gunshots".

In December 2014, a Taliban attack on the army-run school in Peshawar killed 151 people, mostly schoolchildren. They are loosely allied with the Afghan Taliban insurgents who ruled most of Afghanistan until they were overthrown by US -backed military action in 2001.
