US Asks China To Cut Off Oil Supply To North Korea

The country's state media made the announcement Wednesday, hours after leader Kim Jong Un ordered the 3 a.m. local time launch of the Hwasong-15 missile, which reached the highest altitude ever recorded by a North Korean missile.

"If they want to find a pretext for destroying North Korea, as the U.S. envoy said at the UN Security Council, then let them say it outright and let the supreme American leadership confirm it".

By Thursday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov finally had enough - and flat-out accused Trump of trying to manufacture a reason to attack North Korea, Reuters reports.

"We see this negatively", Lavrov told journalists in the Belarusian capital Minsk, Russian news agencies reported.

Mr Trump has been trying to apply more pressure on the hermit kingdom and re-designated them a state sponsor of terrorism, meaning the U.S. can enforce even more sanctions on Kim Jong-un's regime. "We basically share the border with them". Pictured: Lavrov (left) meeting President Donald Trump in May.

As Trump and Kim have traded insults and threats from across the globe, North Korea has stubbornly refused to step away from its nuclear program despite mounting pressure from the global community. The U.S. already imposed unilateral sanctions on Pyongyang, but these seem to have failed to make any difference in the regime's plans for turning into a nuclear power.

Another member of the delegation, Kazbek Taisayev, was quoted as saying by RIA of the North Koreans: 'They do not want war, they want to live normally, but if there is a threat from the United States, then they are morally ready for that war'.

"We need China to do more", she said.

"It's as if the recent actions of the United States are consciously directed to provoke Pyongyang towards other radical actions". However, under pressure from the United States, China in September has agreed to reduce shipments of refined petroleum products to North Korea under 2 million barrels per day.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry also raised "serious" concern about North Korea's new missile launch that violated the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council.

"China can do this on its own", Haley said in a speech at the United Nations, "or we can take the oil situation into our own hands".

North Korea also published photographs of the new ICBM.
