Flynn pleads guilty to lying to Federal Bureau of Investigation

White House Transition Adviser's Emails Say Russia Threw The Election To Trump ― REPORT

"What has been shown is no collusion, no collusion", Trump said, "There's been absolutely no collusion, so we're very happy".

Strzok was a major player in the Clinton email and Trump-Russia investigations.

Brushing aside an ongoing Russian Federation probe, President Donald Trump reveled Saturday in the Senate's passage of a sweeping tax bill, predicting with swagger that he and his fellow Republicans were "unbeatable".

The White House did not immediately return a request for comment on Trump's tweet. Flynn was dismissed as national security adviser after it emerged he had lied about the conversations to Vice President Mike Pence. In a statement Friday, Flynn said he has agreed to cooperate with special counsel Robert Mueller's team in its ongoing investigation into the Kremlin's attempts to influence the 2016 election, including possible coordination with the Trump campaign.

In at least one instance, prosecutors say Flynn was directed by a "very senior member" of the presidential transition team to discuss a United Nations resolution on whether to condemn Israel's building of settlements. The president has also continued his longstanding criticism of the FBI's Clinton email server investigation which Trump initially cited as his reason for firing FBI Director James Comey in May of this year.

"No I'm not", Trump said in his first public remarks on the plea deal.

"I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go".

"Among federal law enforcement officials, there is great concern that exposure of the texts [Strzok and Page] exchanged may be used by the president and his defenders to attack the credibility of the Mueller probe, and the FBI more broadly", the Post wrote Saturday.

Trump said Saturday that he's not anxious about what Flynn would disclose as part of his plea deal with Mueller's team. Information about it was leaked to the media in January, after Trump's inauguration. She was joined in the meeting by a senior career official in the Justice Department. Mr. Horowitz is scrutinizing Mr. Comey's decision to hold a news conference in July 2016 to announce that the bureau was recommending that Mrs. Clinton not be charged, and how Mr. Comey reopened the investigation just days before the 2016 election.

Vladeck added: "I can't speak to how the special counsel would view this statement, but it betrays an alarming lack of understanding of the relevant legal rules on the President's part, or of the serious legal jeopardy he could be in for actions he may wrongly believe are appropriate".
