Nathan Redmond explains what Pep Guardiola said to him

City leave it late again as Silva completes comeback win over West Ham

The FA will then decide whether Guardiola, who also encroached onto the pitch to celebrate when Raheem Sterling scored City's 95th-minute victor, should face a disrepute charge following his conduct.

When the players were already heading to the locker room, Guardiola seemed to have a heated argument with midfielder Nathan Redmond.

"Yes he was very passionate, intense and aggressive but he was only very complimentary and positive to me", Redmond said.

"When I give you an opinion, I give you an opinion", former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager Guardiola told reporters.

"Losing the game the way we did in the last kick of the game after working so hard for 90-plus minutes, I was very disappointed".

During his post-match interview, Guardiola claimed he was telling Redmond that he was wasting time from the ninth minute. The Spanish coach said, "I can't control myself and I have to make an effort to improve". I said what I said and what Nathan said in his statement.

Redmond's comments support Guardiola's version of events, with the manager insisting he had not been critical of Redmond in their animated conversation. "If they don't believe me, I don't know what I am doing here".

"I've played in my career against lots of managers and I will never judge the way opponents play against one of my teams". All the managers want to help their players because if they play bad we'll be sacked.

"It's so complicated when teams defend with 10 players", he added. "We want to win the league but you have to celebrate when you score in the last breath like that".

Guardiola faces a tough selection issue for Sunday's visit of struggling with West Ham - with Vincent Kompany, Leroy Sane and Fernandinho all one booking away from a suspension that would rule them out of the Manchester derby a week later.
