Alex Smith hits back-to-back touchdowns to Tyreek Hill

Darrelle Revis is expected to make his debut with the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday and it will fittingly come against the New York Jets at Met Life Stadium

Most notably, he had a 70-yard scramble that put the Chiefs' offense in field goal range.

That part would have been a lot worse had the Chiefs tied the game. Against Kansas City (6-6), they finally protected an advantage - but not without some drama.

Jets starting linebacker Darron Lee was a surprise inactive for Sunday's game with the Chiefs.

But Kansas City quarterback Alex Smith (336 yards, four touchdowns) misfired on fourth down to seal the game. They were repeatedly gashed by Josh McCown and the Jets.

The Jets carried a 27-24 lead into the fourth quarter.

Less than two minutes later, Smith and Kelce hooked up again for a 36-yard score to build an early two-possession lead. He also returned a punt 24 yards in the first half. In past collapses, the Jets committed a host of dumb penalties. That gave the Jets the ball at the 1 with a new set of downs.

Blistering start gives returning Woods share of the lead
He opened with a birdie on the first hole after knocking a wedge to 4 feet, then added two more birdies in the next three holes. On the par-five third his eagle putt from just off the green went just wide but left him with an easy birdie.

DE Mo Wilkerson and DE Leonard Williams split a sack and LB Jordan Jenkins got one of his own at the end of the second quarter. The Chiefs seemed to get a third-down stop after that, but a defensive holding was called.

Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters was not a happy camper on Sunday. RB Elijah McGuire made the two-point conversion.

But the sight of quarterback Alex Smith, snapping his chin strap loose and slumping his head after a failed comeback attempt only reinforced that this was yet another disappointment in a troubling middle portion of the season.

WR Jermaine Kearse led all receivers with 9 receptions for 157 yards. Robby Anderson added eight catches for 107 yards.

McCown passed for 331 yards on the day with three combined touchdowns to pace the Jets as they delivered the Chiefs a sixth loss in their last seven games.
