Infosys picks Capgemini's Salil Parekh as its next CEO

IT major Infosys on Saturday announced appointment of Salil S Parekh as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director effective January 2, 2018.

Parekh will take on the role from January 2, and was a member of Capgemini's group executive board, Infosys said in a filing to the stock exchange on Saturday.

8- Parekh is also a member of the Group Executive Board of Capgemini.

Salil Parekh will be effectively appointed as Infosys CEO on January 2, 2018.

"Salil's eminence and grooming in India will be a strong advantage to establish the right face to the Infosys brand, in addition to his experience of working across global cultures", he said.

Infosys Chairman Nandan Nilekani has stressed that the company will continue looking at acquisitions to accelerate its pivot to new technologies, as it embarks on a strategy of building platforms for its customers that bundle software products with services. Also, the Infosys board believes that he is the right person to lead company at this transformative time in the industry. Earlier Mr. Vishal Sikka departure was related to a tussle between the early board member of Infosys founder Mr.

1- Parekh has a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B) which he completed in 1986.

Burqa-clad militants kill nine in Pakistan
Authorities said the gunmen had been killed and security forces had cleared the area after searching for remaining militants. A heavy contingent of police and army has reached the site while the university road has been closed for traffic.

The Stock of the Infosys Company has declined 5.13 percent in 2017.

Unlike Sikka, Parekh is neither flashy nor gregarious and is considered to be more amenable to the founders of the company, according to two executives.

Salil S. Parekh will be the sixth CEO of Infosys. "Salil contributed in particular to the development of the Group in India and in the US", Capgemini CEO and chairman Paul Hermelin said in a statement. He also will be the second outsider to be named Infosys CEO after Sikka, who stepped down citing unwarranted interference from company promoters. He was a partner in global tax and audit firm Ernst & Young between 1992 and 2000 in financial services and joined Capgemini in 2000 as a result of the latter's acquisition of the consulting division of Ernst and Young.

In the company statement, Nilekani thanked Rao on behalf of the Board "for his leadership during this period of transition".

Infosys Head of nomination, and remuneration committee, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, said that Mr. Parekh was the "top choice from a pool of highly qualified candidates".

Parekh will take over from UB Pravin Rao, who was appointed interim MD and CEO in August after Vishal Sikka's resignation.
