McMaster: North Korean threat increasing every day

S. Korea-US ready for air force joint drills against N. Korea's missile provocations

Graham's remarks echoed those of McMaster, who told a security forum in Washington on Saturday that the potential for war with North Korea "is increasing every day".

North Korea conducted its sixth nuclear test this year and test-fired a series of advanced missiles, including intercontinental ballistic missiles, even as 18 million North Koreans, or 70 percent of the population, are struggling with food shortages. On Wednesday, 29 November, the North fired the long-range missile which flew about 950kms and touched an altitude of 4,475kms during the almost hour-long flight before hitting the sea waters off the Japan coast.

Washington has said repeatedly that all options, including military ones, are on the table in dealing with North Korea while stressing its desire for a peaceful solution. But he said that Pyongyang's actions had made America's alliances with Japan and South Korea "stronger than ever".

Russian Federation and China have proposed a roadmap for defusing the crisis in the region. "I think we're really running out of time". And, much to our regret, that they try to pull the Japanese and the South Koreans in the same direction.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has accused late Saturday U.S. President Donald Trump of "begging for nuclear war" by staging "extremely dangerous" military drills on the Korean Peninsula and simulating real-scenario-attacks upon DPRK.

The US and South Korea will launch a major air force exercise involving hundreds of aircraft on Monday, a move denounced by North Korea for bringing the region to the "brink of nuclear war".

"The situation clearly proves that the USA and the South Korean puppet war maniacs are just aggressors and provocateurs breaking peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula".

Vice Chairman Pak Kwang-Ho of the party's decision-making Central Committee told the crowd that, after Wednesday's test launch, "now no one can infringe our sovereignty and rights to survive and develop", according to the daily.

About 28,500 USA troops are stationed in South Korea to deter potential aggression from the North.

Kim first made the threat in September in response to Trump's United Nations speech threatening to destroy the North and mocking him as "Little Rocket Man". The isolated state claimed the intercontinental ballistic missile was its "most powerful" yet, capable of hitting anywhere in the United States with a nuclear warhead.
