McConnell eases stance on Moore, says voters should 'make the call'

Alabama Democratic Senate candidate outraises Roy Moore

"You can make the argument that Republican voters who supported Trump are coming home to Roy Moore now", John Couvillon, a JMC pollster, told Politico. The error margin is 3.5 points among the sample of 1,110 registered voters and 4.5 points among the sample of 739 likely voters.

I write in response to Chris Kaufman's letter published November 26, wherein he acknowledged that "there have been a lot of serious allegations leveled against" Roy Moore, the candidate Chris Kaufman supports, and whom he asserts will be the next USA senator from Alabama.

Another poll a day earlier had Jones barely ahead.

The survey - published by CBS News over the weekend - shows Moore has a six point lead over Democrat Doug Jones ahead of the December 12th election.

The survey shows that allegations of improper sexual behavior against Moore, a former Alabama chief justice, hang heavily over a race that would favor a Republican under ordinary circumstances in this deeply conservative state.

Moore had repeatedly denied the allegations. Moore has also said he first noticed his wife, who is 14 years his junior, when she was 15 years old.

Three late-November polls, however, show Moore leading Jones.

The accusations against Moore are much more serious than those against Trump, and, because of his long history as a divisive figure in Alabama, he was already facing a possibly-competitive race before the allegations came out.

Saturday's Washington Post poll shows the Alabama electorate is divided on the validity of the allegations against Moore, and that some voters still believe those claims are baseless.

The poll also finds 58% of all Alabama voters think abortion should be illegal. Just 35 percent of likely voters said they believe Moore pursued relationships with teenage girls when he was in his 30s, while 37 percent said they are either unsure or do not have an opinion, and 28 percent said they do not believe the allegations, the poll found.
