Rapper and retiree meet after bonding over Words with Friends

Young man meets woman, 86, he'd been playing Words With Friends with for a year

The two had been playing the online game Words with Friends together for over a year.

Spencer Sleyon (who allegedly raps under the name Half Empty) finally got to meet Rosalind "Roz" Guttman in West Palm Beach, Florida after the two spent over a year playing the ever-popular game "Words With Friends".

For anyone who needed reminding that not everything about the internet is a bad garbage fire, please allow me to introduce you to Spencer and Roz.

But the pair have formed an unlikely friendship through their Words With Friends battles. A Scrabble-like gaming app, players can be matched up with either pre-existing friends or strangers, and Guttman and Sleyon-then strangers-were paired up. Spencer tweeted they have played more than 300 games together.

Sleyon tweeted a photo with Guttman on December 1, which has been retweeted more than 240,000 times and received more than 1 million likes as of December 5.

Spencer posted the photos on Twitter, writing: 'So last summer I randomly met this 80 y/o woman on Words With Friends.

Ms Butler said she has used the example of their friendship in sermons, as Spencer is a friend of her daughter's.

"She came to me weeks later and asked me how would I be interested in going to Florida for a day to meet her", Sleyon said.

Amy Butler, a pastor at Riverside Church in Manhattan, arranged the trip for Sleyon and flew there with him.
