Democratic Women in Senate Call on Al Franken to Resign

Not Released

The Democratic senator is among a growing list of politicians, entertainers and news media figures facing a wide range of allegations involving sexual misdeeds.

"Sen. Al Franken should step down", he wrote.

A group of Senate Democratic women came out almost simultaneously on Wednesday to call for the resignation of Minnesota Sen.

Franken has been accused of forcibly kissing or groping numerous women.

Franken already faced a Senate Ethics Committee investigation into previous claims by several other women that he groped them or sought to forcibly kiss them.

The editorial came not long after Franken's office said the senator would be making an announcement on Thursday.

Politico said Wednesday that it is choosing to not reveal the identity of the woman, who was in her mid-20s at the time and is now alleging that Franken pursued her after her boss had left the studio.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand called on Al Franken to resign Tuesday as new sexual assault allegations surfaced agains the embattled lawmaker

Several female Democratic senators publicly called on Sen.

"I'm shocked and appalled by Sen".

In calling for Franken to step down, Sen. "Franken to step aside and let's move on", Jones told reporters. Franken and, as you know, he will be making an announcement about his future tomorrow morning.

"A big part of the national conversation we're having on sexual assault involves listening carefully and with respect to woman".

"While it's true that (Franken's) behavior is not the same as the criminal conduct alleged against Roy Moore, or Harvey Weinstein, or President Trump, it is still unquestionably wrong, and should not be tolerated by those of us who are privileged to work in public service", she wrote.

"For me, I think it's time for my friend to resign", King said in a statement. "Franken, Rep. Conyers and others", Jones said. Franken released a statement categorically denying the accusation. Two women, who asked to remain anonymous, have told the Huffington Post that Franken squeezed their buttocks at political events during his first campaign for the Senate in 2008. Kemplin said Franken cupped her breast as they posed for a photo.

For his part, Franken has apologized for the earlier incidents, but has shown no signs of plans to give up his seat.
