China was informed about drone that crashed, says India

Chinese border troops 'took a professional and responsible attitude' and carried out identification verification of the device the deputy director said

"Since the China-India boundary in the Sikkim sector has been delimited, India has infringed upon China's territorial sovereignty, which has jeopardized peace and stability in the border regions", Geng said. The Indian drone "intruded" into China's airspace and crashed recently, and China's border troops have conducted identification and verification over the vehicle, said Zhang Shuili, deputy head of the combat bureau of the Western Theatre Command's joint staff department.

The Defence Ministry statement meanwhile said UAV was on a regular training mission inside Indian territory when it lost contact with the ground control due to some technical problem and crossed over the LAC.

Sources said the drone was an Israeli Heron UAV, and it crashed on the Chinese side of the border across north Sikkim.

The Chinese soldiers soon responded with the location details of the crashed UAV, the ministry went on to say.

The incident comes months after a two-and-half-month long stand-off in Doklam along the border in Sikkim, close to the India-China-Bhutan tri-junction.

India said Thursday an unmanned aerial vehicle had "crossed over" the border after losing contact with ground controllers.

"The Indian move violated China's territorial sovereignty". "The matter is being dealt with in accordance with the established protocols through institutional mechanisms to deal with situations along the India-China border areas", it said.

"We will fulfil our mission and responsibility and defend China's national sovereignty and security resolutely", he said.

Recently, on Wednesday, China's Global Times accused India of attempting to influence the U.S. against China's increasing naval capabilities by projecting the Chinese People Liberation Army (PLA) navy as a direct rival of the Americans.

It has also been reported earlier that PLA was slowly starting to increase the number of troops at the border and Beijing has once again started working on its roads and upgrading and widening the existing routes. India had objected to the construction highlighting its security concerns. There are no new developments at the face-off site and its vicinity since the August 28 disengagement.

"According to our information, Wang will meet with the top officials of India and detailed information will be released in due course", Geng said.
