The Game Awards 2017 Winner Is Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The new DLC is titled "The Champions' Ballad".

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild cleaned up at last night's Game Awards, taking home Best Action/Adventure, Best Direction and the top prize for Game of the Year.

DLC Pack number 2 for Breath of the Wild, the much-touted Champions' Ballad DLC, has finally arrived, promising adventurers the chance to earn rare loot like stamina-boosting items for horses as well as Link's shiny new Master Cycle Zero motorcycle.

The 2017 edition of The Game Awards ended with Eiji Aonuma and Hidemaro Fujibayashi, producer and director of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild respectively, lifting the coveted prize and receiving a standing ovation from the audience. These four champions are the ones who were defeated in a grand battle in Hyrule exactly a century before the game's main story starts. It turns out you actually have to complete the entire Champions' Ballad DLC quest, and only after that are you granted the Master Cycle Zero as a reward.

The game was very different from previous Legend of Zelda games because it featured a truly open-world experience.

Other award winning games included Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, which won Best Action Game; What Remains of Edith Finch, which earned Best Narrative; and Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, which was given the award for Games for Impact and Best Performance to actress Melina Juergens who played the title character. Earlier in the year they saw a fantastic launch of their new gaming system The Nintendo Switch. The game was praised for its open-ended nature and for its physics-driven gameplay. The first was called "The Master Trials", released in June 2017.
