Uber Should Be Considered As A Transport Company

Uber Transport Company

If Uber is a taxi company, then it follows that Airbnb is a hotel company, like Marriott, and Grubhub is a delivery service, like UPS.

The EU ruling is separate from a string of ongoing legal challenges Uber has faced around Europe and the world, including in Britain.

Uber, which can not appeal against the ECJ decision, said the ruling "will not change things in most European Union countries" where the company was already operating under transport law. The company has 21 days to decide whether to appeal against the decision and can continue to operate in York until its licence expires or the appeal is heard. Regulator Transport for London (TfL) refused to grant Uber a new licence in September, citing its approach to reporting serious criminal offences and background checks on drivers.

On the decision ruled by ECJ, Uber said that the verdict would affect a little only to the way it operated in Europe, though experts think otherwise. Uber assures drivers that they can make great money and set their own schedule.

Uber's expected to go before the parliamentarians again after the New Year with "specific details" on how driver hour limits will be put into place, Reuters reported. However, Uber's operation across Europe has enraged traditional taxi services across Europe, from Denmark and the United Kingdom to Greece and Italy.

Turkey says regrets to see veto of United Nations resolution on Jerusalem

The case was brought by Elite Taxi, a taxi drivers' association in Barcelona, which argued successfully that Uber was directly involved in transporting passengers. The taxi drivers said Uber drivers should have authorizations and licenses, and accused the company of engaging in unfair competition.

Ten companies provided technology platforms to implement transportation e-contracts, including Uber and Grab.

Taxi drivers honked their horns in central Barcelona to welcome their victory over ride-hailing giant Uber in a European Union court ruling.

However, the ex-Uber worker agreed that conditions were getting much tougher, as national courts were increasingly forcing Uber to requalify drivers as full-time employees. At Tuesday's hearing, TfL also said it had "one or two" issues regarding the accuracy of details provided by Uber."The decision letter says, well, there are one or two issues about the extent to which the information given to TfL was correct", TfL lawyer Martin Chamberlain told the court.

The ruling is specifically relating the UberPop-a service that permits unlicensed drivers to pick up passengers at affordable rates-this service could have an influence on the future of Europe's economy.
