Gallup Poll Names Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton Most Admired People Again

Former President Obama may be out of sight, but he isn't out of mind with respondents of Gallup's annual "Most Admired Man" poll.

Following a year in which he achieved new lows in approval ratings for a new president, Trump is now the first chief executive to not win Gallup's Most Admired Man poll in the first year of his presidency since, uh, ever.

Obama this year came in first with 17 percent, Trump's came in second with 14 percent.

A Gallup spokeswoman said in a statement that it has historically based the rank-order list on the number of total responses for each choice, regardless of statistical significance or how close the picks are. On the men's side, the 2016 election winner wasn't the, well, winner.

Situational awareness: "President Trump's legal team plans to cast former national security adviser Michael T. Flynn as a liar seeking to protect himself if he accuses the president or his senior aides of any wrongdoing", three people familiar tell WashPost's Carol Leonnig.

His margin over Trump, however, equates to an essential tie if factoring in the poll's margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4 percentage points at a 95 percent confidence level. With 10 wins, Obama comes in second place for the man with the most "Most Admired" wins. Pope Francis came in third with 3 percent and Rev. Billy Graham, Sen.

Gallup, however, offered that Clinton's time at the top of the "most admired" list may be running out. "But the likelihood that she will continue to hold that honor in future years seems less certain, with her popularity at a nadir and the percentage naming her as most admired the lowest in 15 years", it stated.

The failed presidential candidate has received the distinction 22 times - more than any other person.

Eleanor Roosevelt is a distant second, getting 13 most honorable mentions in the poll.
