Wind chill advisories continue; no warm up in sight

What to know about the wind chill advisory set for Delaware County

Partly cloudy and very cold with a stray evening flurry.

A Wind Chill Advisory is now in effect for the Valley for Monday starting at 12 a.m. and last until 11 a.m.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny. Wind: N 10-15; gusty. It will feel like it's no higher than the single digits.

Widespread fresh snow cover over the entire Midwest coupled with clear to partly cloudy at night and an Arctic air mass moving in from Canada will lead to the coldest weather of this early winter season. Day time highs will only make it to the 20s/30s this week.

Monday night: Mostly clear, low around 6 below.

Sat: High: 44 Low: 20 Partly cloudy.

High temperatures today will reach the mid teens, but with a north wind at 5 to 15 miles per hour, wind chill values will range from 0 to -10 degrees throughout the day. The cold wind chills will cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.

The final day of 2017 will be a "good looking" day on Sunday with plenty of sunshine expected, but it won't feel good at all to be outside despite the mostly sunny skies. Lake effect snow showers and very cold wind chills are expected for both counties.

Wind chill advisories continue; no warm up in sight

Then comes New Year's Eve, one of the colder ones we've seen in recent years.

Temperatures will moderate some through the week ahead with high temperatures returning to the 20s. Wear warm shoes or boots, and make sure as much exposed skin as possible is covered by gloves, hats, ear muffs, and scarves.

The new year will begin the same way that the old one ended, bright, brisk, and bitterly cold.

Tuesday will start off at -16 degrees with an afternoon high in the middle teens above zero.

Tuesday is when temperatures will reach the single digits above zero. Don't expect any big thaw or warming trend, as high temperatures are expected to remain below freezing indefinitely.

Fri: Hi: 28 Lo: 13 Sunny.

New Year's Day: Mostly sunny.
