Dead man makes list of Buhari's new appointment

EXTRA Death toll rises to four on Buhari’s board appointees’ list

The most recently deceased of the 4 we have so far identified is Ugbaja, appointed as a member of the newly constituted board of the Consumer Protection Council (CPC).

Dr. Nabbs Imegwu, a former commissioner in Rivers State who died earlier this year, was appointed to the board of the National Orthopedic Hospitals while Comrade Ahmed Bunza from Kebbi State, an appointee to the Rubber Research Institute in Benin, had passed on in May 2017.

But it was discovered that in the list were some dead persons and this has generated mixed reactions, with some lambasting the Presidency for the error. They include late Alhaji Umar Dange, said to be a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State.

The appointments of 209 board chairpersons and 1,258 board members were announced on Friday.

A Kano governorship aspirant, Ibrahim El-Amin, popularly known as Little, was appointed board member of the Federal Medical Centre, Owo.

The presidential spokesman said the president only chose to revisit the matter recently and therefore directed the new SGF to release the list. It was learnt that Bunza was a staunch supporter of the APC who served as the sole administrator of Jega Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Ajimobi said, "Although the challenges we are now facing appear daunting, it is my utmost belief that, with the commitment and sincerity being exhibited by the Buhari-led government, we shall overcome them".

"Now that he is back and strong, he asked the SGF to go and release the list".

According to a statement on Sunday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the address would be broadcast at 7:00am.

.

He explained that the list was compiled in 2015 by the ruling party but there was the need to clear some issues raised by some governors regarding the list.

While calling on the new appointees to do Ekiti State proud in their various assignments, the party urged the President to consider Ekiti State for more appointments and also locate more employment-generating projects in the state.
